About "Out"
Our Story
Dear Readers,
It is with great pleasure-no, great excitement! that I welcome you to Colorado's new lifestyle magazine. I'm very energized about this new venture, established on the same principles as Buzz in the 'burbs that I co-founded 13 years ago-a desire to be the definitive resource for all that is amazing about living in the suburbs.
When I was young and single, I wanted nothing more than to live and work in a big city with all its energy and excitement. Then, as a young mom, I wanted to experience that same energy but still provide a wholesome, loving environment for my kids. This is what I have grown to love so much about our community-that you truly can have both worlds, as I have.
I began the publishing business with a dear friend and neighbor when my son was in second grade and my daughter was entering first grade. I was a single mom; and with both kids in school all day, I thought I had all the time in the world.
Now, 13 years later, I'm taking the next step. As my youngest child is experiencing her first day of college at Northern Arizona University, I also am embarking on a new beginning-creating a really fabulous magazine that is the voice for the southeast Denver suburbs.
In so many ways, I am realizing that my life and that of my daughter are parallel. We are both excited, if not apprehensive, about going forward. And, as we have laughed together, we were both seniors at the same time-she in the class of 2009 at Heritage High School, and I a new member of AARP.
As publisher and founder of Out of Denver, I have the opportunity to talk to owners and managers of businesses in our area every day. What I learn from them is a clear sense of their commitment and passion to what they are doing. It is so cool. And, I want so much to connect you, the readers and residents of our community, to that passion. I want you to get to know the owners, many of whom may be your neighbors.
I love producing this magazine because I know it's the best venue for you to learn about your neighborhood and beyond, though both advertisements and editorial from our cache of talented writers. I hope you will love it too!
