A Word from the Publisher
February / March, 2012
Dear Readers
We are well into the New Year as we publish the February/March issue, and our resolution and aspirations to get organized, de-stress, and make the most of our time continue as we move forward into 2012. We've got some great features and columns in this issue to help us along the way.
One of my resolutions this year is to travel extensively, and Irene Thomas' feature on Costa Rica inspires me to include that destination on my list. As we weather the cold, dry climate here in Colorado, Irene takes us on a fabulous journey to the "Happiest Place in the World." It is easy to agree, as she forays through the rainforest, sharing her adventures of ziplining over waterfalls and lush tropical foliage indigenous to the area.
One of the best ways to de-stress is to focus on giving to others. Patty Thorn's review of the book 29 Days of Giving by Cami Walker shares this view. As a young, newly married woman deals with her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, she gains insight, perspective and peace as she gives to others. An inspiration to all of us on how giving is truly good for the soul.
Back home, Eliza Cross and Kristi Sullivan give us direction on how to get organized in our office and with our finances in our Simple Living and Money Matters columns.
In this issue we welcome Dr. Mark Rush to our cache of columnists. Dr. Rush, a psychologist, will help de-mystify some of life's struggles that we all share, and invites readers to send questions to him that he will answer in his column Therapeutically Speaking.
Rose and David continue their journey across the Country as they explore the scenic and breathtaking beauty of Oregon. Crater Lake, the deepest lake in North America, is a must-see for our wanderlust travelers.
As always, the vision for Out of Denver Magazine is creating a publication that connects us to our surroundings and residents, giving us the opportunity to learn more about our neighbors and history. Claire Walter introduces us to one of our local legendary restaurateurs, Jimmy Lambatos, who co-founded Quiznos in the 80s. Claudia Carbone gives us the background on how two of our most popular resorts, Vail and Breckenridge, came into being. The courage and pioneering spirit of the founders is what my husband, a native Coloradan, has tried to instill in his New Jersey-born wife.
All the Best!
